Tori Spelling Goes Retro With Baby Name

Star Magazine seems to be the first one to report that Tori Spelling gave birth to a baby girl on June 9.

Spelling, 35, and husband Dean McDermott, 41, have gone totally retro with the baby name: Stella Doreen. How can you hear the name Stella without hearing Brando screaming “Stella!” in A Streetcar Named Desire?

The name Doreen is so retro it hasn’t been in the list of Top 1000 Most Popular Baby Names since 1979.

Seriously, I don’t think Doreen is going to make a comeback. On the other hand, Stella has been increasingly popular in the last decade, and it wouldn’t surprise me to see it get a boost from the Spelling spillover effect.

Tori Spelling Has Another Baby On The Way

Tori Spelling photoUPDATE:   June 9. Baby Stella Doreen has arrived! It seems like only yesterday when the Hollywood and New York hype machines were in overdrive for the arrival of Tori Spelling’s first child, Liam, now aged 1. Not surprising, since media coverage of that celebrity birth reached a nausea-inducing pitch.

Here we go again. Spelling, and husband Dean McDermott, are now expecting a baby girl, according to People.

“I’ve always wanted a girl because I’m such a girly girl,” Spelling told People. She actually said that.

Break out the Dramamine.

NAME POLL UPDATE:

In our weeklong poll, Tori Spelling’s name for her baby boy, Liam Aaron, didn’t exactly set the world on fire, but it didn’t bomb either. Over 70% of you either “loved it” or thought it was “okay.” The biggest response group was for the “okay” category. Okay.

Everyone has a MySpace page these days. (I have one, but I’m still working on it and trying to figure out what to do with it, since no-one ever seems to visit it). Hillary has one. Barack has one. All the stars have one. And Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott have one.

US Magazine pointed it out this morning. It’s called the Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott Officlal Site, and it’s decorated in the same turquoise and chocolate brown colors that they used for Liam’s nursery. Not surprisingly, it’s stuffed with news about their new baby boy, Liam Aaron.

Here is a quote from Spelling’s blogpost, just to give you an idea of how well things are going for the new family:

“I might be a biased mommy but he is so beautiful. I just stare at him in amazement. I can’t believe I have been given this unbelievable little gift. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world. He is my little angel baby and I had no idea you could love someone you’ve only known for 4 days this much. But, my heart is jumping out of my chest with love. Mommihood ROCKS!”

Tori Spelling Welcomes Baby Boy

tori spelling photorazziFormer Beverly Hills 90210 star Tori Spelling, and Canadian-born husband Dean McDermott, have welcomed their first child, a baby boy, born on March 13 in Los Angeles.

The baby’s name is Liam Aaron. His middle name, Aaron, is a tribute to Spelling’s father, Aaron Spelling, the famous television producer who died in June, 2006.

According to People, LIam Aaron’s nursery is ready to move in, and newly-decorated in turquoise and chocolate. Sounds kinda nice, actually.

Spelling and McDermott have been busy on another home front – sprucing up their just-opened, tony bed-and-breakfast in Fallbrook, California, about 100 miles southeast of Los Angeles. Chateau La Rue, as it is called, is the focus of the couple’s new reality show, Tori and Dean: Inn Love, which debuts on the Oxygen Network next week.

Be sure to let us know how you rate the name Liam Aaron – take the poll on the left side of your screen!

Brad Paisley's Baby's Name Splits Country Right Down The Middle

Wow. It couldn’t have been any closer if it was a presidential election. Our poll to rate the name of Brad Paisley’s new baby — William Huckleberry — split respondents right down the middle! I’m wondering if it’s a Democrat and Republican thing?

How close is this? Out of 166 people who took the poll, 83 either checked “love it” or “okay,” and 83 checked “kinda lame” or “totally sucks.” That’s 50/50 exactly! And even more amazing, each of the four choices got 25% each of the votes.

It reminds me of the 2000 presidential election, when Bush and Gore spilt the popular vote more or less 50/50. The only difference is — my poll is more accurate! No “chads,” no polling place hanky-panky, no ballots falling off the back of a truck, etc.

I’m seriously thinking of proposing that I should conduct the 2008 presidential election, right here on the Celebrity Baby Names Blog, using my incredible polling widgets. Think of the time and money that could be saved, not to mention improving the accuracy of the results.

A Brand New Poll – Help Pick The Name Of Tori Spelling’s Upcoming Baby!
Update: Obviously, since the Spelling baby has now arrived, there is no point in guessing his name. Why not take our new poll, and let us know how you like “Liam Aaron.”

While you’re thinking about that one, take a shot at this week’s new poll — picking the name that Beverly Hills 90210 star Tori Spelling, pictured here with husband Dean McDermott, will choose for her new son! (When he arrives).

Will she dig back into 90210 days and name him David? Will he get his dad’s name, Dean? How about grandpa’s name, Aaron? Or will it be none of the above? Take that poll right away, and let’s see if we can pick the winner!
