The long wait is finally over. Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony have finally confirmed to People that the names of their newborn twins are Max and Emme. Now we finally know.
Now if only Holly Hunter would release the names of her twins, we could all sleep soundly at night.

UPDATE: February 29. Confirmed! J.Lo’s twins are named Max and Emme!
UPDATE: February 25. It’s now Monday morning, and Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony have still not officially released the names of the twins. As some of you have commented, the names Max and Emme are almost identical to the names of two Hispanic kids on PBS Dragon Tales. (The only difference is that the girl in the show spells Emmy with a “Y”). What gives? I can’t believe it’s a coincidence. Are Lopez and Anthony big Dragon Tales fans? Or is the whole rumor about “Max and Emme” built on shaky ground? I think it’s the latter, and I think in the next day or so we’ll hear the twins are named something entirely different.UPDATE: February 23. It’s Saturday morning, the twins are more than a day old, and their names have still not been released to the media. The blogosphere is going crazy with curiosity. Our own poll (panel at left) shows a polarity of opinion on the names Max and Emme — equal numbers loving the names and hating the names, with fewer people split on the two. And in case you missed it, baby names book author Pamela Redmond Satran made a blatant pitch to JLo in the Huffington Post earlier this month, trashing the names Max and Emme and urging Lopez to call her! She even offers to send her “the brand new edition of Cool Baby Names for free.” Wow, nice offer! That’s a saving of $9.95, JLo! But seriously folks, this one is hot. I haven’t seen this much fervor over a celebrity baby name since Shiloh Nouvel.
POSTED: February 22. The twins have finally arrived for Jennifer Lopez and husband Marc Anthony — born early this morning, February 22, during a snowstorm on Long Island, New York.The babies are the first for Lopez, 38, and the fourth and fifth for Marc Anthony, 39.
But the big question, so far unanswered, is what the twins will be named. We blogged a few weeks ago about Jennifer Lopez’s baby names, when the rumor was going around that the boy will be named Max and the daughter named Emme. But so far, that has not been confirmed. Stay tuned for details — as soon as we know the names for sure, we’ll be posting the news!
JLo and Anthony were married in June, 2004. They announced their pregnancy in a well-hyped media event during a Miami concert on November 8.

Kyle MacLachlan, star of Desperate Housewives and Sex in the City, and his wife, Desiree Gruber, are expecting their first child. They haves been married for six years.
February so far has proven to be a barren stretch as far as new celebrity babies are concerned. Perhaps the world is waiting for the arrival of Jennifer Lopez’s twins, currently codenamed Max and Emme.
Usually when we hit a dry stretch like this, it gets burst (no pun intended) by a major celebrity baby arrival, followed by a slew of wannabees.
I’m having a premonition, as I type, that some outrageous new celebrity baby names are just over the horizon.

UPDATE: February 22. Twins are born, but will they be named Max and Emme?
Gossip site Just Jared is reporting this morning that Jennifer Lopez and husband Marc Anthony have already chosen the baby names for their upcoming twins.
Based on a story in Star magazine, it’s believed that the J.Lo babies will be named Max and Emme.
Supposedly J.Lo’s mother Guadalupe had two gold-rope baby ID bracelets engraved in New York City, and another shopper overheard the order. Hmm. Or maybe a magazine just wants to sell more issues.
Time will tell.

When you don’t have any new celebrity babies or celebrity baby names to write about, you write about celebrity pregnancies! It’s a world of rumor, speculation, disinformation, and just plain gossip– what’s not to like?
Is Jennifer Lopez pregnant? Who knows? 
According to Hollyscoop.com, she has the pregnancy glow, even though she told US Weekly that she’s not expecting. The About.com: Celebrity Gossip maven is sitting on the fence, but reading between the lines, I think the About expert is leaning to “yes.” And a couple of days ago, A Socialite’s Life declared positively that Lopez is pregnant, because “her nose is gaining weight.” (Trust me, ya gotta read it).
Looks like it could be the real thing this time. Or not.
Is Eva Mendes pregnant? Who knows? Latina Viva thinks she may be. In Case You Didn’t Know claims you can clearly see a pregnancy bump on her photos, and mentions she was spotted leaving a pre-natal yoga clinic. Jonathan Jaxon, the first Hollywood blogger
to confirm the Halle Berry pregnancy rumor, promises to investigate. Hurry up, J.J.!
Is Melissa Joan Hart pregnant? Yes she is! iVillage’s Daily Blabber goes with a no-nonsense headline, Melissa Joan Hart is Pregnant. Can’t argue with that. The star of Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and husband Mark Wilkerson, (guitarist for Course of Nature), 
already have a one year-old son, Mason. The Daily Blabber hopes this will be a girl, and they’ll name her Tabitha.
What to take away from all of these rumors and half truths? When it’s a celebrity’s first baby, chances are she’ll keep quiet, at least for a while. Take Christina Aguilera. She’s going to be giving birth, and still claiming she’s not pregnant. But if it’s her second or more — no big deal. Let the good times roll!
And while we’re talking about secrets — what’s up with Holly Hunter? Her twins are well past a year old, and still she won’t release their names. How about it J.J? Can you find the answer to that one?
