Angelina Jolie Twins Named Knox and Vivienne

Anglina Jolie Brad Pitt photoCNN is reporting this morning that actress Angelina Jolie, 33, has given birth to twins — a boy and a girl — in Nice, France on Saturday night, July 12.

The boy is named Knox Leon, and the girl is named Vivienne Marcheline. Jolie’s mother, who diied in January, 2007, was named Marcheline.

No official word yet from the Jolie-Pitt camp as to how they came up with the names Knox Leon or Vivienne Marcheline, although rumors are floating around the internet that Knox was the middle name of Pitt’s grandfather, and that Leon is a family name on Jolie’s side.

It’s interesting that all the boys in the family now have names ending in the letter ‘x’.

The twins join a growing Jolie-Pitt family that includes Maddox, 6; Pax, 4; Zahara, 3; and Shiloh Nouvel, 2.

Story About Angelina Jolie Baby Names May Have Sparked Fake Birth Rumor

I knew that Angelina Jolie’s twins’ baby names had to be in there somewhere!

By now, everyone knows that last week’s report broadcast on Entertainment Tonight, claiming that Angelina Jolie had given birth in France, was false.

In a story on CNN today, the nightly entertainment show is revealed to have been suckered into running the story, based on email messages sent by someone impersonating Jolie’s assistant. Oops! Furthermore, the CNN story says that E.T. knew the story was fake. (I don’t quite get the logic there, if that’s true).

Anyway, one interesting tidbit in the CNN story is that:

“Even before the Entertainment Tonight report, there were international rumors of the twins’ birth, possibly started by an OK! magazine story that did not report the babies were born, but speculated on possible names.” (emphasis mine).

I wonder if the journalists at OK! magazine may have seen my speculation about Jolie’s baby names? Is that what started all this? I posted back in February that I’m guessing Jolie and Pitt will go with Irish names this time around — and I’m sticking with that guess!

Time for a guess-athon!

Time To Play Guess The Baby Name For Angelina Jolie Twins

Angelina Jolie Brad Pitt photoThis time around, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are keeping the whole world guessing.

We know the family is in France, and US Magazine, along with other celebrity news outlets, was reporting last Friday that Angelina Jolie’s twins had arrived. Furthermore, US reported that the twins’ names are Isla (pronounced eye-la) Marcheline and Amelie Jane.

Not so fast, says Brad Pitt’s manager, Cynthia Pett-Dante, who told The Associated Press: “We have no comment except the story is not true.”

So has she or hasn’t she? Who knows! Maybe she has, maybe she hasn’t. The media is so revved up for this celebrity birth that if Jolie hiccups it may start a delivery rumor.

Fact is, we just don’t know. Yet. And that’s as good a reason as any to play “Guess the names of Angelina Jolie’s twins”!

So what do you think? Who thinks the baby girls are (or will be) named Isla Marcheline and Amelie Jane? I don’t think so. From the couple who brought us Maddox, Pax, Zahara, and Shiloh-Nouvel? Doesn’t have the right ring. Then again, that’s what celebrity baby names are all about — the unexpected!

Join the fun and guess the names of Angelina’s twins. Like I said in my last post, I’m predicting that Jolie and Pitt will go for Irish baby names. And I’m going to stick with that guess.

Welcoming Jack Black II

CORRECTION: It has now been revealed that Jack Black’s new baby’s name is not Jack, but rather it’s Thomas David. Apparently Jack Black’s real first name is Thomas, so when the family said the baby was named after Jack Black, they meant ‘Thomas.’

In almost total secrecy, Jack Black and his wife Tanya Haden welcomed their second son last week, and only in the last day or so did word leak out that the new baby is named Jack.

Maybe Black felt it was time to keep quiet about babies, since at Cannes two weeks earlier he inadvertently announced to the world that Angelina Jolie is pregnant.

Little Jack Black joins big brother Samuel, who is now two years old.

Gwen Stefani Baby Name A Hit Among Parents

Sometimes, the names that celebrities give their children become a big hit in the general population. The latest statistics from the Social Security Administration show that Gwen Stefani’s choice of Kingston for her son has started a trend.

Kingston was barely a blip in the Top 1000 most popular baby names back when 2006 statistics came out. But this year, the stats for 2007 show Kingston jumping from # 942 to # 355.

Some other celebrity baby names that seem to have sparked a trend with new parents:

Ava, as in Reese Witherspoon’s daughter, is the 4th most popular girl’s name in the U.S.

Shiloh, as in Jolie-Pitt, jumped onto the top 1000 list in 2007, at # 804. The boy’s name Maddox is moving up quickly also.

Jayden, the name of Britney Spears’s son, is a name that has been rising for a number of years. But in 2007, the year following Jayden James Federline’s birth, it hit the after-burners, moving from # 49 to # 18.

But just because it’s high profile doesn’t mean a celebrity baby name will get picked up by the masses. Suri Cruise, for example, was born before Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, but so far at least, new parents aren’t biting.

Celebrity Pregnancy Watch: Angelina Jolie

UPDATE, JULY 12, 2008. Anglina Jolie and Brad Pitt welcomed twins, a boy and a girl, in Nice, France this evening. The boy is named Knox Leon, and the girl is named Vivienne Marcheline.

UPDATE: Well, as everyone knows by now, Angelina Jolie is expecting twin girls. But we still don’t know for sure what their names will be! Here we go again! The thought that immediately came to mind — and an almost overwhelming thought at that — when I heard Angelina Jolie is pregnant, was: “here we go again!”. I’m not sure I can take another go-around.

Angelina Jolie Brad Pitt photoCome on, think back — the buildup to the birth of Shiloh Nouvel, the virtual takeover by the Jolie-Pitts of the African nation of Namibia (which has since fallen back into relative obscurity), the absolute fawning by an international press corps over every move Angelina made, over every gesture and word… Can we all live through it once again?

Sure we can! Bring it on!

So, what do you think Brad and Angelina will name this one? No word yet on if it’s a boy or a girl, but I’m ready to start guessing the newest Angelina Jolie baby name. Let’s see, it’s going to have to work with Maddox, Pax, Zahara, and of course Shiloh. Hmm. Lots of “x” sounds and soft …”ah”s in that brood. What can they possibly come up with next?

Let the guessing begin. For my money, I think Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are going to pick an Irish baby name this time around. Let me know what you think!

Angelina Jolie's Son Officially Renamed Pax Thien Jolie-Pitt

angelina jolie brad pitt photoIt’s official — the latest addition to Angelina Jolie’s and Brad Pitt’s family, Pax Thien, who was adopted by Jolie from Vietnam in March, is now a Jolie-Pitt.

A Santa Monica, California court approved the name change — from Jolie to Jolie-Pitt — on May 31. Because of adoption laws in Vietnam, Jolie and Pitt, seen here at Cannes last month, had been unable to jointly adopt Pax Thien back in March. Vietnamese law prohibits adoption by unmarried couples.

Pax Thien, who is three years old, joins siblings Maddox, 5, Zahara, 2, and Shiloh-Nouvel, 1. The name Pax Thien means “beautiful sky” in Vietnamese. The boy had been living in an orphanage in Ho Chi Minh City since his birth.

Angelina Jolie Files To Make Pax Thien A Jolie-Pitt

angelina jolie brad pitt picture
When Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt adopted Pax Thien (meaning “Beautiful Sky” in Vietnamese) back in mid-March, only Jolie was legally allowed to adopt the little guy. Vietnam has a policy against adoption by unmarried couples.

Brad and Angelina, shown above on a scooter in Ho-Chi Min City, are now back in the U.S.A., and ready to formalize their family adoption of Pax Thien, by officially changing his name to Pax Thien Jolie-Pitt.

According to EOnline, they filed the necessary papers in Santa Monica Superior Court on April 16.

Pax Thien joins the ever-growing Jolie-Pitt brood, including Zahara, Maddox, and Shiloh-Nouvel.

Angelina Jolie Adopts "Peaceful Sky"

angelina jolie 3.15.07 photorazzi

Angelina Jolie has completed her third adoption, that of a three year old Vietnamese boy, who had been living in an orphanage in Ho Chi Minh City since he was a baby.

The boy’s name is Pax Thien Jolie. “Pax” means peaceful, and ”Thien” means sky, in Vietnamese.

According to EOnline, only Jolie was legally allowed to adopt the boy under Vietnamese law. That country does not allow unmarried couples to adopt children. Since U.S. law allows it, it is expected that Brad Pitt will file papers in the U.S. to become the legal father of Pax Thien.

What Comes After Shiloh?

angelina jolie photorazziThe word is out that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are planning on adopting a Vietnamese boy, a process that should be completed in a few months.

The adoptee, who will likely be three or four years old, will join siblings Maddox, Zahara, and of course Shiloh, in the Jolie-Pitt household.

And, according to sources close to the pair, this latest adoption may not be the last, as Angelina Jolie vies to become the new Mia Farrow.

The big question, of course, is what will the little boy’s name be? Will he come with one ready-made, or can we all spend the next three months speculating? Heck, let’s speculate!

Jolie named her first daughter Zahara, an Arabic name meaning “bright,” which is in keeping with her daughter’s Ethiopian heritage. But she named her Cambodian-born son Maddox, which is a Welsh name, probably meaning “fortunate,” and while Maddox Jolie-Pitt certainly is fortunate, he is not Welsh. Shiloh, by contrast, is a Hebrew name.

So far, then, we’ve got Arabic, Hebrew, and Welsh names. If they are striving for a balance in their family, and the Arabic name balances the Hebrew name, what would balance a Welsh name? Irish of course! It’s a foregone conclusion. I believe Pitt and Jolie will choose an Irish name for their newest child.

I’m not a gambler by nature, but I’m going to go out on a limb on this one. I think they will name him Patrick. It just sounds right. Plus, it will be easier for Jon Voight to remember.
