Kevin Costner, 54, grew up in the vicinity of Orange County, California, but he continues to reinvent himself as an icon of the American West. He, and wife Christine Baumgartner, 34, chose another western-themed name for their second son, Hayes Logan, born February 12. Their first son, Cayden Wyatt, was born in 2007.

Costner, who released a country album with his band Modern West last year, told People that Hayes is a cowboy  character in a Western movie that is in the pipeline, and that “it’s a great Western name”.

I don’t know. Costner seems to be doing this Western theme the way some people approach interior decorating. Pick a western theme and go with it. I’m sure Dances With Wolves must have been a pivotal movie for Costner, but I hope we won’t see his boys dressed in little cowboy outfits any time soon.

Legendary KISS guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter Paul Stanley, and his wife Erin Sutton, welcomed their second child together (and Stanley’s third) with the birth in late January of a daughter.

Sarah Brianna was born on January 28 in Los Angeles. As Stanley put it, she’s the latest member of the KISS Army!

Stanley, 57, and Sutton have a two-year-old son, Colin, and Stanley has a 14-year-old son from a previous relationship.

Tiger Woods and his wife Elin welcomed their second child on Sunday, February 8. According to People, the baby boy is named Charlie Axel.

Axel is a Scandinavian name, essentially meaning the same as Absalom. literally, ‘my father is peace.’  A tribute, probably to Wood’s father, who died in 2006. Woods’ wife, former model Elin Nordegren, is Swedish.

Little Charlie joins big sister Sam Alexis, 1, at home.

Or so it now seems. According to MTV News, Badu and longtime boyfriend Jay Electronica named their daughter, born at home in Brooklyn on February 1, Mars Merkaba, not Twitty Milk.

Too bad. I really liked Twitty Milk. Anyway, they did announce the baby’s name on Twitter, as previously believed.

Singer Erykah Badu gave birth to her third child at home in Brooklyn on February 1. She was tweeting during labor on her now private Twitter page.

If you follow our own Tweets, you’ll know that we asked the question ‘did she name her baby Twitty Milk‘ as some bloggers have claimed. Celebrity Smack Blog certainly claims she did. But Parent Dish called it a ‘maybe’. Meanwhile, in the Wikipedia entry for Badu, the claim is made that the new baby is actually named Mars Merkaba.

You couldn’t invent this stuff if you tried — it’s that good.

No clue is provided on Badu’s MySpace page either, but there is a really cool soundtrack there. (Maybe that’s the point. Am I too cynical)?

Twitty’s (or Mars’s) father is Badu’s longtime boyfriend, rapper Jay Electronica. Badu has two children from previous relationships: her son, Seven Sirius, and daughter, Puma Rose.
