Nicole Kidman Chooses Sunday Rose For Baby Name
This just in: Nicole Kidman has given birth to a baby girl early today, July 7. The newborn is the first child for Kidman, 41, and husband Keith Urban, 40.
The couple have chosen the name Sunday Rose, according to US Magazine.
It’s not totally unusual to name children after days of the week. The Baby Name Bible by Pamela Redmond Satran and Linda Rosenkrantz says that ‘Sunday’ is among the best of the day names, with its sunny opening syllable. Still, I can’t help thinking about ‘Wednesday’ from The Addams Family when I hear it.
UPDATE: It has been widely reported that the name Sunday was dreamed up by Kidman’s father, Antony. He came across the name while reading about Sunday Reed, an Australian arts patron who eventually committed suicide.
More interesting to me is that Kidman is, sadly, continuing the long-established trend of using Rose only as a middle name. Doesn’t anyone think Rose is good enough to use as a first name?

I don’t understand how Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise started off with “Isabella” and “Connor”, got divorced, and then suddenly lost their taste in names. “Suri” and “Sunday”???
Well, Sunday is not my choice for a girls name but a HUGE congrats to this couple. I’m sure once photos are out of this cutie we will get over the name choice. May they all enjoy this new phase of their lives and my hopes are that this little girl will blossom as all parents hope their children will. Congrats Nicole and Keith.
