Food Network celebrity chef Giada De Laurentiis, 37, and husband Todd Thompson, 44, welcomed a baby girl over the weekend. Jade Marie is the first child for the couple, and the first for De Laurentiis. The couple married in 2003.

UPDATE: April 2. Brooke Burke and David Charvet have finally gotten it together and named their new baby boy. His name is Shaya.
Three weeks ago, I wrote about Brooke Burke’s Baby Name Conundrum.
Now, as reports surface that Burke, and husband David Charvet, are truly stumped for a baby name, it seems that it was a prescient article.
Let’s help them out readers!
The couple has to come up with a boy’s name to match sisters Rain, Neriah, and Sierra.
My feeling is that their only way out of this mess, with the whole world waiting for a really, really creative celebrity baby name, is to go for broke. Give the little guy a really powerful name, something that will firmly establish Brooke Burke as the reigning mom of great celebrity baby names.
I’m going to suggest they call him Thunder. It’s dramatic, it’s masculine, and it fits the great outdoors theme that they are starting to build.

UPDATE: June 9. Baby Stella Doreen has arrived! It seems like only yesterday when the Hollywood and New York hype machines were in overdrive for the arrival of Tori Spelling’s first child, Liam, now aged 1. Not surprising, since media coverage of that celebrity birth reached a nausea-inducing pitch.
Here we go again. Spelling, and husband Dean McDermott, are now expecting a baby girl, according to People.
“I’ve always wanted a girl because I’m such a girly girl,” Spelling told People. She actually said that.
Break out the Dramamine.

Confirmed: Actress Marissa Jaret Winokur, and husband Judah Miller, a writer on television’s King of the Hill, are expecting their first child. A surrogate mother is five months along with their baby, carrying the child for cancer-survivor and Dancing with the Stars contestant Winokur.

People reports today that Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry have revealed that their new daughter, born March 16, is named Nahla Ariela. The article goes on to state that the name Nahla means ‘honeybee’ in Arabic.
Berry, 41, and Aubry, 32, join a growing trend among parents — waiting til they meet their offspring before settling on a name.

Miley Ray Cyrus, also known as Hannah Montana, began life as Destiny Hope Cyrus. Her parents, singer Billy Ray Cyrus and wife Leticia, named her Destiny Hope because they felt she was destined for great things.
Now that she’s pretty much fulfilled her destiny, she’s decided to toss out the old name, and adopt Miley Ray Cyrus as her official, legal name. Papers filed by her parents in Los Angeles County Court on Friday petition for the name change.
Is this a smart idea? If, as some contend, your name affects your destiny (or in her case, Destiny affects her destiny), might she not be throwing out something very valuable? The name she bore while rising to the top? After all, her parents consciously gave her that name to help her succeed. Whether you believe in the power of names to shape your life or not, it seems like quite a risk to throw out a name that has served you well all your life.
To me this seems a little like those successful people who get to the top, and once there, forget where they came from and who was there for them along the way.
I wish Miley Cyrus well, and hope she enjoys continued success. But I hope she’s not making a big mistake that she’ll live to regret.

Former Punky Brewster star Soleil Moon Frye, already mom to Poet Sienna Rose, 2, delivered another far out celebrity baby name, Jagger Joseph Blue, for her second daughter, born on St. Patrick’s Day.
Back in October, when I posted about Frye’s pregnancy, I guessed that she was going to have to go the extra mile to come up with something to top Poet Sienna Rose. Boy, did she come through.
Jagger Joseph Blue — and for a girl! That’s ballsy. Jagger is a hot name among celebs — for boys. It was chosen by tennis Grand Slam champion Lindsay Davenport for her son Jonathan last summer; and Jagger Song, son of former Fuel vocalist Brett Scallions and MTV veejay Abby Gennet, born in September, made number 5 on our 2007 Ten Most Notable Celebrity Baby Names List. I also like the sibling ‘balancing’ touch — Blue and Rose.
But I can honestly say that I’ve never seen Jagger used as a girl’s name before. And Joseph — that’s really breaking new ground, picking it for a girl. Way to go, Punky!

Actress Halle Berry, 41, gave birth to a baby girl yesterday in Los Angeles. It is the first child for Berry, and her boyfriend, model Gabriel Aubry, 32.
No word yet on a baby name. Delaying the announcement of their baby names seems to be the newest fashion among celebrity parents, as shown most recently by Jennifer Lopez, who waited several days before revealing the names of her twins.
Let’s hear some guesses for the new baby name for Halle Berry! I’ll go out on a limb — I’ve heard a whisper that the name may be Clara-Stella. But official confirmation is yet to come!

Actress Minnie Driver, 38, announced on The Tonight Show yesterday that she’s pregnant with her first child. And People reports that she is already facing up to what is likely to be a big challenge — what should you name your baby when your last name is Driver?
According to People, Driver confided in a taping for an upcoming Ellen DeGeneres interview that it may be difficult to avoid jokes, especially for a boy.
