The long wait is finally over. Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony have finally confirmed to People that the names of their newborn twins are Max and Emme. Now we finally know.
Now if only Holly Hunter would release the names of her twins, we could all sleep soundly at night.

Update: April 14. Cate Blanchett welcomed her third son on April 13, in Sydney, Australia. His name is Ignatius Martin.
Australian movie star Cate Blanchett is expecting her third child in April. Time to play “guess the baby name!”
Blanchett, 38, and her husband, playwright Andrew Upton, have a knack for picking interesting baby names. They have two sons, Dashiel and Roman. I’m expecting something a little exotic for number three! Blanchett is pictured here about four weeks ago, at the Screen Actors’ Guild Awards in Los Angeles.

Nicole Kidman and husband Keith Urban made big news last month when her pregnancy was finally confirmed. But they are keeping everything else, including the baby’s gender, under wraps, at least for now. That’s the word from the couple’s home country media — in this case, the Australian Herald Sun.
Too bad! It’s going to make it tougher, guessing Nicole Kidman’s new baby name! The new arrival is reportedly due in July.

While we’re waiting to find out if J.Lo and Marc Anthony have named their twins Max and Emme, it’s time for our weekly Celebrity Pregnancy Roundup, where we look at who’s pregnant, and what celebrity baby rumors are flying around.
Isaac Hanson, 27, and his wife Nicole, 24, are expecting their second, and the new baby will join big brother Everett, who is ten months old. The Hanson clan continues to expand — younger brother Zac, and his wife Kate, are expecting a baby around May.
Celebrity chef Giada De Laurentiis is also pregnant — she is due to give birth at the beginning of April. De Laurentiis has already announced it is a baby girl. If she has picked a baby name, she hasn’t announced it.
Alex Rodriguez and his Cynthia wife are expecting this spring — they already have a daughter named Natasha.

Is she or isn’t she? Only time will tell, but the blogosphere is buzzing with another celebrity baby rumor — this time about Britney Spears. The rumor was ignited by a story in the ever-reliable Star Magazine, that British paparazzo Adnan Ghalib has gotten Spears pregnant.
Last time around, Spears and Kevin Federline let the world think their second son, Jayden James, was named Sutton Pierce. All bets are off for the next Britney Spears baby name.

Here we go again! The thought that immediately came to mind — and an almost overwhelming thought at that — when I heard Angelina Jolie is pregnant, was: “here we go again!”. I’m not sure I can take another go-around.
Come on, think back — the buildup to the birth of Shiloh Nouvel, the virtual takeover by the Jolie-Pitts of the African nation of Namibia (which has since fallen back into relative obscurity), the absolute fawning by an international press corps over every move Angelina made, over every gesture and word… Can we all live through it once again?
Sure we can! Bring it on!
So, what do you think Brad and Angelina will name this one? No word yet on if it’s a boy or a girl, but I’m ready to start guessing the newest Angelina Jolie baby name. Let’s see, it’s going to have to work with Maddox, Pax, Zahara, and of course Shiloh. Hmm. Lots of “x” sounds and soft …”ah”s in that brood. What can they possibly come up with next?
Let the guessing begin. For my money, I think Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are going to pick an Irish baby name this time around. Let me know what you think!

UPDATE: February 29. Confirmed! J.Lo’s twins are named Max and Emme!
UPDATE: February 25. It’s now Monday morning, and Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony have still not officially released the names of the twins. As some of you have commented, the names Max and Emme are almost identical to the names of two Hispanic kids on PBS Dragon Tales. (The only difference is that the girl in the show spells Emmy with a “Y”). What gives? I can’t believe it’s a coincidence. Are Lopez and Anthony big Dragon Tales fans? Or is the whole rumor about “Max and Emme” built on shaky ground? I think it’s the latter, and I think in the next day or so we’ll hear the twins are named something entirely different.UPDATE: February 23. It’s Saturday morning, the twins are more than a day old, and their names have still not been released to the media. The blogosphere is going crazy with curiosity. Our own poll (panel at left) shows a polarity of opinion on the names Max and Emme — equal numbers loving the names and hating the names, with fewer people split on the two. And in case you missed it, baby names book author Pamela Redmond Satran made a blatant pitch to JLo in the Huffington Post earlier this month, trashing the names Max and Emme and urging Lopez to call her! She even offers to send her “the brand new edition of Cool Baby Names for free.” Wow, nice offer! That’s a saving of $9.95, JLo! But seriously folks, this one is hot. I haven’t seen this much fervor over a celebrity baby name since Shiloh Nouvel.
POSTED: February 22. The twins have finally arrived for Jennifer Lopez and husband Marc Anthony — born early this morning, February 22, during a snowstorm on Long Island, New York.The babies are the first for Lopez, 38, and the fourth and fifth for Marc Anthony, 39.
But the big question, so far unanswered, is what the twins will be named. We blogged a few weeks ago about Jennifer Lopez’s baby names, when the rumor was going around that the boy will be named Max and the daughter named Emme. But so far, that has not been confirmed. Stay tuned for details — as soon as we know the names for sure, we’ll be posting the news!
JLo and Anthony were married in June, 2004. They announced their pregnancy in a well-hyped media event during a Miami concert on November 8.

February so far has proven to be a barren stretch as far as new celebrity babies are concerned. Perhaps the world is waiting for the arrival of Jennifer Lopez’s twins, currently codenamed Max and Emme.
Usually when we hit a dry stretch like this, it gets burst (no pun intended) by a major celebrity baby arrival, followed by a slew of wannabees.
I’m having a premonition, as I type, that some outrageous new celebrity baby names are just over the horizon.

John C. McGinley, best-known nowadays for playing Perry Cox on NBC’s Scrubs, but who also delivered a memorable performance as Sergeant Red O’Neill in Oliver Stone’s Platoon, is a new father.
McGinley’s wife, yoga teacher Nichole Kessler, gave birth to a baby girl on February 3 in Malibu. The baby’s name is Billie Grace.
