That's Maxx With Two X's, Thank You

Olympic champion skater Scott Hamilton, and his wife, Tracie Hamilton, welcomed their second child, a son, on January 21 in Tennessee. They chose the name Maxx — that’s with the letter ‘x’ twice, not a typo.

Well, it’s different all right. For some reason, it reminds me of the movie Mad Max, even though there was only one ‘x’ in that title. I guess that’s because seeing the name Max spelled Maxx has me groping for cultural references to place it somewhere. Whatever. Maxx it is.

Digg!

Maxx is not as uncommon as you think. Naming a child Max, with one “x”, would cause your son to spend his life correcting people that he is not Maxwell, Maxamillian, or Maximus. Double “X” makes it a name that can stand on its own. One of my twins is named Maxx, and I know of two others.
