Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon Names Twins Jax And Jaid
And the question, surely, is “why?”
Coming up with a really way-out celebrity baby name is totally cool — take Gretchen Mol and her new baby, Ptolemy, for example. Now there’s an unusual baby name.
But taking an ordinary name, or in this case, names, and tweaking a few letters to make them look different, leads to only one thing — spelling mistakes!
Jax. Is that from Jack? Jackson? Maybe it should be spelled Jacks? Or Jakks? Who the heck knows?
As if that weren’t bad enough, Beauvais-Nilon and husband Michael Nilon turn the elegant name Jade into Jaid. It’s not unique — it’s a recipe for a lifetime of hearing “can you spell that again please,” or “I’m sorry, did you say J-A-I-D”?
“er… yes, I did, sorry, it was my mom’s idea…I guess she figured if she named me Jade, people might think I was a girl…”
Little Jax and Jaid arrived October 18 in Los Angeles. Beauvais-Nilon, 40, is best known for her role as assistant District Attorney Valerie Heywood on NYPD Blue. She and Nilon have been married for about six years. Beauvais-Nilon has a son named Oliver from a previous marriage.

One letter off from J-A-I-L. Great choice *rolls eyes*
What would you expect from celebrities? They are always in the spotlight and it seems they are “required” to come up with unusual names to keep people interested in them.
I named my daughter Pamela and while it is not unusual, I don’t know any other children with that name. I guess you can name your children anything you want, but it’s them who will have to live with it ( being a celebrity helps a lot )
