For Brooke Shields — Baby Grier is finally here
Tuesday, April 18, 2006 was a big day for Hollywood star babies — as Brooke Shields and Katie Holmes both gave birth to baby girls on the same day. Actress Brooke Shields, and producer Chris Henchy, are the proud parents of little Grier Hammond Henchy.
Grier? Apparently, a name of Scottish derivation, meaning “watchful” or “vigilant.” Hammond? It’s an English name, thought to mean “of the village” or “from the village.” Let’s put that together if we can, and see what Brooke and Chris were aiming for: “watchful of the village.” Hmm. I guess it means something to Brooke and Chris, but I don’t quite see it. Still, Grier does have a lot of rhyming possibilities, which is always fun…
At least it doesn’t mean “away with you” in ancient Celtic, or something equally disastrous.
